I pulled up the Facebook profile of my high school bff and this is what I found in the Interests section:

I think our roads definitely diverged somewhere… and that has made all the difference.

I occasionally mourn the loss of old friends. I am happy to be in contact with some of them, if only to say hello on occasion. But people change and sometimes we take the path we’re meant to take and nothing else would have been right.

I was browsing around Facebook tonight and I realized I am bone tired of everyone being so angry all the time.

I know that times are tough but, gods in the heavens, people seem to be spewing constant hate and anger and disdain and dissatisfaction.

I’m all for the occasional snark or rant but when you’re angry every day, all the time? Pardon me, but I just don’t want to see it anymore.

It’s bringing me down and, by god, life is too short and to innately good for that. I want to be happy, I want to be surrounded by happiness — or at least contentment and an attempt to make things positive instead of reveling in the negative.

These are my summer resolutions:

To hang with good friends that I love.

To ride as often as possible.

To drink Corona with giant wedges of lime at least twice a month in the middle of the day.

To spend quality time enjoying the amazing man my son is turning out to be.

To foster happiness and forward movement in those around me.

To stop contributing to the spread of anger and meanness.

I may have relapses but I really want to be more than I have been, more than what I see around me.

I really do.
